Air Fryer Recipe
Crispy Panko-Crusted Prawns
These crispy panko-crusted prawns make a quick, tasty appetiser, with the air fryer giving them a crunchy coating while the centres stay juicy.
Ingredients
- 300g raw king prawns, peeled and deveined
- 45g plain flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 90g panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic granules
- ½ tsp fine sea salt
- ¼ tsp ground white pepper
- ½ tsp lemon zest
- Lemon wedges
- Dip of choice
Method
- Pat the prawns thoroughly dry with kitchen paper.
- Arrange three coating bowls: one with flour, salt, and pepper; one with beaten egg and mayonnaise; and one with panko, remaining salt, paprika, garlic granules, lemon zest, and oil.
- Dip each prawn first in the flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the panko, pressing firmly so the crumbs cling.
- Chill the coated prawns in the fridge for 5-10 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C for 3 minutes.
- Place the prawns in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spraying any dry patches with oil.
- Air fry for 5 minutes, turn, then cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden and opaque.
- Check they are cooked through, then serve straight away with lemon wedges and dip.
